Are you unable to “Unblock” a file after copying it from a network location to a Windows 2012 server? When you right-click the file in Windows Explorer and choose properties, do you see this message?
Security: This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer.
PROBLEM
When you click the Unblock button in the properties of a file, it appears to work. However, if you go back into properties, the security message and the Unblock button remain.
SOLUTION
If you encounter this problem, go to the Security tab in the file properties and add your userid with “Full control” permissions. After you have explicitly assigned your userid full access, the Unblock button will work. To confirm Unblock has worked, click back into the file properties and the security message and Unblock button should be gone.
There are reports of this also happening on Windows Server 2008 R2, but I’ve never seen it happen on that OS. If it does happen, the solution should be the same.
